Movie Reviews

Call Me By Your Name (2017)

2/5. It's pretty. I like Italy, I like the Summer, and I like the '80s. However, watching an adult man pursue a teenager was wildly uncomfortable, especially when the other adults in the movie were cheering it on the whole time. Also, even if the age gap weren't questionable - Oliver also didn't really care about consent anyways (re: peach scene). If you think this movie is a good gay film, get a life.

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)

2.5/5. Truly middle of the road for me. I love Matt Damon - but his character wasn't exactly the mastermind this movie would like you to think. There were so many points throughout this film that he could've made an equally evil but more intelligent decision - and he never did. Plus - it wasn't even that gay. I did appreciate seeing Jude Law get brutalized.

Saltburn (2023)

4/5. I do like this movie. The soundtrack is great, I long to party at Saltburn. I do love watching rich people meet their demise. However, Oliver is such a god damn freak in this movie - it is hard to watch at some moments. I appreciate it for being slightly more gay than The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Ride Your Wave (2019)

2.5/5. Look, I love romcoms - but this movie was just okay. The romance was sweet, but I found Hinako to be too childish - even for the sake of the plot. The ending was solid and I definitely cried - but I'm an easy crier.

Aftersun (2022)

4.5/5 - just really solid. Cried a LOT.
